A recent article published by CNN’s Thom Patterson discusses how The Salvation Army is combating fundraising challenges brought on by recent slowing down of the U.S. economy. Along with tapping into various social networks and employing web-based fundraising tools, several local chapters of the organization have launched mobile giving campaigns through mGive.

mGive’s mobile giving technology allows nonprofits to offer their current supporters a new avenue through which to donate, while helping them to reach previously untapped audiences. “One of the things we’re interested in doing is reaching out to a younger generation and figuring out what makes them tick,” said Maj. James Seiler, a Salvation Army Official in Atlanta who believes that young supporters will be drawn to the convenience of using their cell phones to donate. The reasoning behind mobile giving speaks for itself, and mGive is thrilled to see nonprofit officials like Seiler getting excited about what the technology can bring to their organizations!
