Super Bowl XLIII’s Mobile Ads
Katie Maxfield, February 10th, 2009 Kim Dushinski of Mobile Marketing Profits posted an excellent video review of companies that incorporated mobile into their Super Bowl XLIII commercials. In the video, Dushinski discusses which company’s advertisements “showed they understand our love of mobile,” and utilized the technology as a direct response tool.
Among Dushinski’s top rated mobile advertisements that aired during this year’s Super Bowl is the United Way Text to Donate Commercial, which encouraged viewers to donate $5 to United Way Youth Fitness Programs by texting FIT to 864833 (UNITED). She praises the advertisement, saying that it was “a great, quick ad with a build up, a call to action, and a text to donate program,” and “an excellent example of how mobile can make any ad a direct response.”
Dushinski went on to rank the United Way’s commercial above those of other charities, in terms of their fundraising effectiveness, because it gave viewers the opportunity to express their concern about the issue at hand by donating immediately. “I commend United Way for using mobile to turn an ad in the Super Bowl into a direct response donation program, way to go United Way,” she concludes. Mobile donations for the United Way are powered by mGive.
