American Idol- Text Donation Video

Published Date Author: , May 21st, 2009

Last night’s conclusion of American Idol brought back memories of last week’s episode where Alicia Keys appeared on the show and asked viewers to text ALIVE to 90999 to donate $5 to Keep a Child Alive.

Alicia Keys was joined on stage by a 15-year-old Rwandan rapper, Noah, who is a patient at the Kigali clinic funded by Keep a Child Alive.

That night, Keep a Child Alive raised over $450,000 from more than 90,000 mobile donors.  The campaign was powered by mGive‘s Mobile Donation service.

In case you missed it, here is the video of Noah’s performance and Alicia Key’s asking viewers to text ALIVE to 90999 to donate $5.

What a fantastic way to leverage mobile technologies! Its amazing how often mobile phones are overlooked as being an instrumental device for driving donations and engagement.
