Alicia Keys Issues Mobile Giving Call to Action During American Idol
Katie Maxfield, May 22nd, 2009 Dan Butcher of Mobile Marketer magazine wrote an article today about Alicia Keys’ appearance on American Idol last Wednesday, May 13th. Ms. Keys is a co-founder and global ambassador of Keep a Child Alive, a nonprofit organization that provides healthcare and housing to children with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. Keys was accompanied by Noah, a fifteen year old rapper who is HIV positive and a patient at Keep a Child Alive’s Kigali clinic in Rwanda. After a performance by Noah, Keys asked fans to donate $5 to the organization by texting ALIVE to 90999. Her call to action raised over $450,000 from more than 90,000 mobile donors. Keep a Child Alive’s mobile donation campaign is powered by mGive.
